Increase Sales Productivity: BE SQUARE

Sixteen: that's how old I was when I was profoundly touched by a book and philosophy that changed my life. I had the great fortune to attend a summer leadership camp sponsored by the Danforth Foundation and was given the book "I Dare You!" Author William H. Danforth founded the Ralston Purina Company and the company's now familiar checkerboard logo, was actually based on his philosophy of life outlined in the book. He wrote it almost a hundred years ago, but it is without question one of the most powerful and applicable sales/business books today. Danforth's premise is that to maximize your productivity, you must strive every day to be equally balanced mentally, spiritually, physically and socially. "Think Tall, Smile Tall, Stand Tall, Live Tall." The idea is to give equal attention every day to challenging yourself to learn something new, to spend time in meditation or prayer, to push yourself physically and never to ignore the people around you. It's amazing if you are facing a sales slump, if you just look at your square, you'll find the answer on how to pull yourself out. Your square may look like a triangle...you may be ignoring your workout schedule. Or it may be, you're not taking time to connect with your support system. Danforth's book is as corny as you can imagine; he talks about doing 20 jumping jacks every morning:) But the principles are sound. You can increase your productivity and maximize your results if you truly give attention to all four sides of your square. For years, his motto was my mission statement: "My own self, at my very best, all the time." Of course my mission statement has evolved. I now dedicate myself to helping YOU find your success! Follow Danforth's square and you will!
